Vintage Hansen Cardiff Mike Doyle Signature Model Surfboard. Up For Sale: Extremely Rare "Mike Doyle Signature" Model Surfboard, Designed by Iconic Surfing Legend Mike Doyle and Built By Hansen Cardiff Surf Shop. Serial Number and Markings indicate this Board was Built in Mid to Late 1967, The dots Before and After the Serial # and Production # are the markings for Shaper Fred "Buzzy" Smole, The Production # 13365 is a sequential Number (total for all Hansen Surfboards) and the Serial # 808 indicates the 808th. While Hansen built Doyle Model Boards from 1965 thru 1968 the "Signature" Series (with Hand Signed Gold Seal added to Logo) was produced in Limited Numbers for.

A little over one year from 1967 to 1968 only. Exact numbers produced is uncertain. This Board is a "PinTail" with original Doyle Design Fin, Measures 8' 3" Long 22" Wide and 2 1/2 Thick (approximately) Built during the transition period to shorter Boards. The Condition of Board Shows wear from Age and Use including bumps, bruises and some small dings as well as possible?

Repairs or re glassing at mid section? While this is possibly a "repair" it is more likely an alteration done during original Board Build to shorten the Blank before Glassing. Overall Very Good Condition for a 50 +. An Excellent and Easy Restoration Project.

Countless Awards and Events, as a Designer, Shaper and Builder and a Lifelong proponent of the sport of surfing in general. A True Icon in the world of Surfing.

See pic's for the gold hand signed seals laminated under resin both top and bottom of Board. Produced in very limited numbers by Famed Hansen Cardiff Surfboards from 1967 to 1968. The serial number 13365 is a sequential production number (for all Hansen Model Surfboards). Followed by "DOYLE" as Model and then 808 indicating the 808th DOYLE Model produced.

Each side of the serial # and production # identify the person who actually. The Board : In this case Fred "Buzzy" Smole, Also a legendary 60's surf-cat and Board Maker. Hansen made lots of different "Doyle" model boards from 1965 thru 1968 but the "Signature Series". With the signed gold seal were VERY limited, exact numbers are unknown. Board is Pin tail (or "pointed" tail in 60's lingo) shape and measures 8' 3" L x 22" W x 2 1/2 approx. I did a thorough web search and could only find four "Signature Series" currently. The condition of this Board is fairly rough, quite a few bumps, bruises and dings as well as some signs. Of repairs/re-glassing at fin area and mid-section. Fin is original glassed in "Doyle" design and Board still displays. A very rare and sought after Collectors item and/or restoration project being offered at well below.
