RICK GRIFFIN poster 1975 Phil Edwards surf surfing. Very hard to find guaranteed original old Rick Griffin poster for Dave Hill Seaboards of San Clemente. Beautiful transparent blue ink printed on heavy silver paper.

Used for trade show booth promotions. Because of the paper and foil type silver, most of these that have survived are in poor condition.

This one is in real nice as can be seen in picture, because we have kept it in stored away from light and carefully handled. The deep blue print contrasts beautifully with the matte silver foil.

The poster size is 10 x 12 ½ inches. Griffin developed the surfer on the wave in this design from a picture of legendary surfer Phil Edwards. In either 1974 or 1975, Rick Griffin made a deal with Dave Hill, a surfboard maker who was opening a surf shop in San Clemente near Griffin's studio.

The deal was that Rick would design a logo for Dave Hill Seaboards and Dave Hill would shape and produce a surfboard for Griffin. This image also appeared on surfboards, T-shirts, and stickers. Uncut proof sheets of paper labels, with multiples of the image were also made, but since this surf shop was in business for only a few years in the mid 1970s, these items do not turn up very often.
