70's AWARE SURFBOARDS PLASTIC FANTASTIC BK KANAIAUPUNI DENT SINGLE FIN SURFBOARD

  
For your consideration is a surfboard shaped by Jim Waide of Aware Surfboards, Huntington Beach, CA. James and Cheryl Waide operated Aware Surfboards in the mid 1970's.

Jim shaped for Chuck Dent and Plastic Fantastic Surfboards. He also shaped Barry Kanaiaupuni's personal surfboards for a period of time. This 7'-6 (+/-) single fin has a classic teardrop-shaped outline. The widepoint is forward of center with a dramatic pin tail.

The rails are down-turned with a beaked nose. It appears to be in original condition with the exception of the resin leash loop which is of contemporary vintage. The opaque white resin tint has minimized any evidence of suntanning. Note the subtle pair of black, tapered pin lines and the groovy laminate. It is in great condition with a few minor pressure dents on the deck and a few small stress cracks on the bottom surface of the board.
