Vintage Val Surf Balsa with Redwood Body/Bellyboard Surfboard

  
Up for sale is this vintage balsa wood body/bellyboard. It features a 3/4 wide redwood stringer along with a redwood tail and nose block.

The board has a early 1960's Val Surf of North Hollywood, California decal on the deck. I don't believe it is original to the board.

It appears that a clear finish was applied over the decal after the fact. The joinery of the redwood components makes me believe this is original construction and not a cut-down from a longboard. The board measures 4' 11 3/4" long by 17 1/2" wide with a thickness of approximately 2 1/4. Overall condition of the board is very good. Deck shows well with some minor scratches and scuffs. Bottom has what appears to be delamination but is solid with no lifting. It also has some scratches and scuffs along with a ding on the rail. The ding has some softness along with some discoloration.

Fin appears to be original and is constructed of 1/4 plywood. There is some delamination to the tip of the fin. This board would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
